X - Dissapointment indeed.

I have been a fan of X for many years and I was very dissapointed with this release. Tofu records in the first advertisements promised a much better product than what they released.
For one, they promised Interviews with subtitles, and music videos (In full) With subs. Didnt happen. What is worse is that Anyone who is a die-hard X fan knows of the attrocity that tofu commited by editing, and cutting the video for "Celebration".
They botched the entire start of the video with the little girl having the fight with her mother about all the X goodies she had in her room (I almost cried when the mom tore down the X blue blood singles subway poster off the kids wall!) the mom even got an eyefull of the Yoshiki nude photobook, taking time to pause in her ranting to say "...Wow.." then she goes back to destroying the precious X loot.
This release was decent for newbie fans to X and J-rock in general (1-3 years) but for the hardcore fans this DVD/CD combo doesnt even scratch the surface. They left out so many of X's greatest tracks including Dahlia, Rose of Pain(Greatest track next to Art of life IMO), Standing Sex, Alive, and a lot of other great tunes.
X was and is the greatest export to ever come from Japanese music and since their dissolution Japanese music as pretty much reverted to what it was before X: Copies of what was popular before. X dared to push the envelope and to create the place where Dreams and reality become one.
I am heavily dissapointed in most J-rock music today due to it's lack of originality and Musicianship. Not one band since has ever come to their level, and quality of Skill save for The Loudness' own Akira TAKASAKI. Though I don't enjoy the loudness, you cannot deny the man's guitarwork and status as a legend, even here in America (Ranked 97 out of 100 in Guitar World Magazine's Top 100 greatest guitarists of all time)
For anyone who wants the real on X this Best collection is only a starting point, and a dissapointing one on part of Tofu records. Be sure to keep your eyes out for any and all of their Full albums, collections, and Rare live albums.

Great for the fans!

So I live in Norway. Norway is a long long long way from japan, and therefor I should not have heard anything of X-Japans music. But thanks to the glorious internet I have! And since I discovered X-Japan I have been looking all over for a dvd like this.
I must say though, that I was slightly dissapointed. I put the disc in, and it just began, with anything. No menu, no nothing. There is no bonus materials to this dvd what so ever.
But apart from that, its probably one of my best purchases on amazon ever! I mean, the clips in the dvd are just great. From "Endless Rain" to their theme song "X" they are just incredible. My fav must be "Weekend", on this dvd the song is different from the versions I have heard before. A piano part is included, and it makes it so much better.
Now the best part about this dvd is the cd that follows. It includes all the tracks on the dvd, plus 4 more. Thats what makes this such a great buy. You get a dvd with different clips (some live, and some musicvideos) + you get a cd. A perfect way for a fan to start getting his X-Japan collection together.
And its really dead cheap as well, compared to the other X-Japan stuff.
If you want to start listening to X-Japan, then get this. No matter what people say about Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, and similiar bands. X-Japan was the first and the best, and no one can change that.
