Reviews Customer Reviews for War On War Good Part I M The Man Who Loves You      Not bad, not great      Rating:      War on War is an excellent song picked from an excellent album, the incomparable Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Buyount pop accentuated by electronic swirls help make it a light-hearted high point on the album, despite the cryptic lyrics. The Good Part does not hold a candle to the other songs that left it behind. It is included here for preservation's sake, but sounds like one of the more rough and ragged tunes that Uncle Tupelo would have thrown away. Jeff Tweedy, in particular, sounds pretty bad. This version of I'm The Man Who Loves You was recorded live in Chicago's WXRT studio. Since the song was not really officially released yet, you can tell that Wilco had yet to gain their confidence with performing this number. It wasn't until after the tour that the song came together in all it's power with a crazy guitar solo from Tweedy. This one sounds a tad rough. If you are interested in hearing the good stuff that didn't make it onto Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, then check out the Moon Like The Moon EP. It was not released domestically in America, but is available from Wilco's website. Those are some good tunes. This single is a little lacking.     Customer Reviews for War On War Good Part I M The Man Who Loves You Cd      Superb Single from the Best Album of 2002      Rating:      It's almost the end of 2002, and so far the champ as Best Album of the Year remains Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Watch this album in the coming weeks pile up award after award (among others, it'a already received Album of the Year by Amazon's editorial staff). This is the delightful single from the album. "War on War" is one of the musically more upbeat tracks, driven by Jeff Tweedy's accoustic guitar playing. "Good Part" is a non-album track, also rather upbeat while not in tune with the rest of the album, hence left off. Finally, for anyone who has seen Wilco in concert this year, you know that "I'm the Man Who Loves You" finds Tweedy whipping out a fab guitar solo, and this live version holds true. "War on War" did not find any airtime on US radio. (Neither did YHF, for that matter.) It demonstrates once again how much top quality music never finds its way to the airwaves. What a shame.
