Reviews Customer Reviews for The Best Of The Guess Who AN ESSENTIAL CD! Rating: This is, in my opinion, one of the best greatest hit packages to have in your CD collection! This is the definitive CD to acquire if you are just getting acquainted with The Guess Who. If you like their "signature" hit American Woman American Woman and wonder what some of their other hits might have to offer, this CD will fulfill that requirement. As a teen, this was the first CD (actually it was an album back then!!) that I listened to. Now in my 40's, I have accumulated many more CDs of The Guess Who. They are, truly, quality musicians from Winipeg, Manitoba Canada. Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are one of the best songwriting duos! Bachman-Cummings Songbook Randy Bachman also enjoyed success with his own group BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) with the big hit "Taking Care of Business" Best of B.T.O.: Remastered Hits. Burton Cummings enjoyed a successful solo career in addition to his work with The Guess Who. You may be familiar with his big hit "Stand Tall" from 1976 Burton Cummings. These gentleman are still very active today in their craft and go on tour. I was lucky to see them in concert. A live rendition of "American Woman" is an amazing experience that you could never forget! If you are acquainted with The Guess Who, this CD is a tidy compilation of their work that you should already own! I would also recommend their live CD "Running Back Thru Canada", which is essentially, an expanded greatest hits package but performed live from various venues in Canada. Here is a link for the DVD "Running Back Thru Canada" in case you would like to witness their concert presence! Guess Who - Running Back Thru Canada This CD/DVD has a superbly executed version of These Eyes! You might want to compare it to the original on this CD Wheatfield Soul/Artificial Paradise. You might also wish to consider The Guess Who's first live album Live at the Paramount. I also particularly enjoy listening to So Long, Bannatyne/#10.
Customer Reviews for The Best Of The Guess Who Cd NO SUGAR TONIGHT IN MY COFFEE Rating: THE GUESS WHO WERE A GREAT ROCK AND ROLL BAND FROM CANADA THAT MADE IT BIG IN THE STATES IN THE LATE 60'S-EARLY 70'S. THIS CD FEATURES THEIR BEST KNOWN HITS. IF YOU CAN GET ANY OF THEIR EARLIER STUFF (I BELIEVE THERE IS A CD RELEASED ON THE "SUNDAZED" FROM THE EATLY 60'S), PICK THAT UP, TOO. THE GUESS WHO LATER MORPHED INTO BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVE, WHERE THEY HAD THEIR GREATEST HIT (TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS), BUT THE BAND WAS MINUS THEIR GREATEST ASSET, WHICH IWAS THE SINGING OF BURTON CUMMINGS (SORT OF LIKE THE WAY THE JEFFERSON AIRPLANE BECAME JEFFERSON STARSHIP, BUT WITHOUT THEIR TWO BEST MUSICIANS, JORMA KAUKONEN, AND JACK CASSIDY, OR THE WAY "THE MOVE' LATER BECAME THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, WITHOUT ROY WOOD, WHO WAS THEIR CREATIVE GENIUS, OR KENNY LOGGINS WITHOUT JIM MESSINA!). ANYWAY, IF YOU LIKE THE GUESS WHO, THESE ARE THEIR "BIGGEST" HITS.
