When I listen to "Poetry Man", and if I close my eyes, I'm sitting in the shade of an old Elm tree and it's a breezy summer day in 1974. I listened to this album until I dreamed it. I love the simplicity of the lyrics, her phrasing, her range, her voice. One of my favorite tracks is Easy Street - the lyrics are superb and the voice full of pathos. This is one of the truly great albums by one of the truly great singers of the 20th century.

I listened to this album over and over when i was in high school and I LOVED IT. I love it just as much now. The tracks are all very different, but they are all favorite-song quality. I've never been able to decide which is my favorite! There is an honest raw emotion that comes through in Ms. Snow's unique voice, combined with jazzy folk to rocking jazz melodies. Phoebe sounds like no one else, and she takes you around the world from melancholy, contemplative, humorous, to rocking and rolling. There's a little bit of everything here. It's a must-have classic!
