Reviews Customer Reviews for Power      Just get it      Rating:      No kidding folks... Q And Not U is THE best band ever signed by Dischord, barring, of course MacKaye's own Fugazi. 'Power' is the best of their 3 albums. I must confess, I don't know what became of the band in the 3 years since this album's release but rest assured modern music don't get no better. Imagine the precision and intensity of Fugazi combined with a melodic sensibility and (forgive me father) a little bit of funk... 'Wonderful People' sounds like Timberlake goes punk, only it's really, really, good! Each track on this wonderful LP has it's own distinct texture and sound, and each of the 13 tracks will drag you in and make you a blissed-out believer in this phenomenally talented band... personal favourite is the ballad-y 'Throw Back Your Head' but truly this is so good that there are no obvious standouts. Comparisons can be made to such great bands as (of course) Fugazi, Brainiac, Les Savy Fav, Nation Of Ulysses, Make Up, ESG etc... If you are the slightest bit curious or a fan of any of the aforementioned bands you cannot go wrong here.. give it a try you won't regret it!!!     Customer Reviews for Power Cd      If you like dance music, then this is the album for you.      Rating:      I was wholly disappointed in the direction that Q And Not U went with this album. In 2000, Q And Not U was a breath of fresh air where Indie rock had been quite stagnant in respect to unique music. "No Kill No Beep Beep" is probably one of the top albums of the 21st Century and "Different Damage" was is also a notable release. Power, on the other hand, is a poppy 80's influenced disaster. This is a very radio-friendly and marketable album, and would probably have been very successful if it had hit the mainstream (see trash like Panic! at the Disco). If you like the previous two albums; avoid this contrived drivel like the plague. Although, I admire the band for their experimentation with different instruments and layers, there is no excuse for the result. It is a good thing that this band broke up because if "Power" is any indication of where they were headed - they did everyone a favor.
