Reviews Customer Reviews for XIII      Heavy, Epic, Atmospheric Post-Nu-Metal      Rating:      Mushroomhead's XIII makes a good case for the judgement of the band. What do you do when your thunder is being stolen (whether you like them or not, or who did or didn't do it first, the similarities between Slipknot and Mhead are obvious) the nu-metal style is stagnating and the metal scene is being flooded with dozens of talented metalcore bands? You go epic and you go big. XII is a huge step forward for the band, although it doesn't lose sight of their original style in the first place. On XII, they add progressive elements, a more intelligent lyrical angle, and pervasive and ominous use of atmospherics in their compositions. It seems much more mature and less "bratty" lyrically, with a lot of commentary on society and injustice. The guitars are heavier and more complex, with lengthy compositions and creative riffing. The production is near-perfect. An excellent step forward, and a definate refinement of the band's style. Just about any metal fan would enjoy this original and heavy album.     Customer Reviews for XIII Cd      Cleveland...OHIO!!!!      Rating:      Being born and raised in Ohio I couldn't help myself from indulging myself into this band. This was the first CD I heard by Mushroomhead and golly was I rocken out. Definently a classic.
