Reviews Customer Reviews for Ringleader Of The Tormentors I blame the production Rating: Some really great songs here, but just not done very well. The guitars disappear in the mix, all the midrange seems scooped out, and the bass is all sub frequencies...no real body to it.
And the vocals...Moz just doesn't sound very strong here. I don't think it's 'age' as some have claimed, just not confident performances. If it is age, It's nothing that some good vocal coaching from a professional couldn't correct. The reverb gives them a disconnected sound as well.
Here's hoping the next album will be stronger, and mixed much better, as well as hoping that the vocals are stronger.
Customer Reviews for Ringleader Of The Tormentors Cd A great followup to the Quarry.... Rating: Some have said this was a disappointing album after the marvelous You Are the Quarry, but it isn't disappointing at all. It's awesome! It's just another typical example of brilliance from St. Morrissey. What can you say about a song (the song You Have Killed Me) that starts out with the line "Pasolini is me/Accatone you'll be"? You say it's awesome. I love Pasolini (a great filmmaker), and Accatone was his first film (the word "accatone" is Italian slang for a person who is a never do well, lazy, and shiftless). The Youngest Was the Most Loved is another great song. Remember, "there is no such thing in life as normal", and the youngest turned into a killer. Many have criticised the 7 1/2 minute Life is a Pigsty, but I like the epic quality of it. It totally works. Moz has done epic songs before (the underrated Southpaw Grammar has two epic tracks, one at 10 minutes, the other at 11 1/4 minutes), and Life is a Pigsty is a great one. This album also has one of Morrissey's greatest titles. This is a very worthy follow up to Morrissey's comeback, You Are the Quarry, and it's another great album by the man we all love (or should love).
