Reviews Customer Reviews for Juvenile Hell A Different but Talented Mobb Deep Rating: Havoc and Prodigy were somewhere around 17 years old when they made this album, and their voices definitely sound different and more youthful than their later releases. The production was also closer to an early 90s sound, based on heavy bass loops.
But regardless of this fact, this album is a definite classic. The production is funky and catchy, and Havoc and Prodigy drop rhymes about everything from sex to peer pressure with ease and smoothness. There aren't any complex rhyme schemes,it's the raw simplicity that makes Mobb Deep stand out.
If you're a fan of early 90s hip hop, you will not be disappointed. If you are a fan of Mobb's more recent release, you might be confused by this album.
Customer Reviews for Juvenile Hell Cd One hell of a debut Rating: This debut album marks the beginnings of the duo to come out of Queens. Havoc and Prodigy sounded better here than they did on Blood Money. Standout Tracks: tracks like Locked In Spofford, Hold Down The Fort, B***H A** N***A, Flavor For The Non Believes show that even back then Prodigy and Havoc were holding their own with rugged and raw rhymes. They even have a great song of substance called Peer Pressure(both the original and The Large Professor remix are cool with me)where they talk about just that. Other notable recordings Project Hallways and Stomp Em Out(Big Noyd steals the show). Filler: the only track I dont feel is Me And My Crew. The beat is dope but the rhymes were not. Bottom Line: Mobb Deep fans should not miss out on this classic debut from M O B B. It was good for the time it came out and it is better than the albums and mixtapes they are putting out now.
