Reviews Customer Reviews for Shock Of The Hour      Amazon Hip-Hop reveiwer      Rating:      Through out the years, hiphop has turned from long baggy pants like MC hammer and big gold chains often with huge clock faces on like public enemy and run DMC, to gang related topics and more hard-core lyrics. Unfortunatly it has now turned into some what of a joke, with such artists as 50cent, fatman scoop and the rest of the hard core gangtsa artists that you normaly find in smash hits magazine or something cheesy like that. All us true rap fans have left is the old 90's classics. One day them classics will run out, owed by all, listened to over and over again till all the lyrics are learned, but until that day comes, we still have a large number of classic albums to choose from, what better album but this very 1. Rare and underrated but yet easy to listen to and pure classic music One of the last " Ren and DJ Trains " albums together. Villian in black had some small work from DJ train until he died in a house fire half-way through the album. Now I often like music where "BEEF" is involved, and while been clever about his lyrics there is sertainly a song that is aimed at someone..... After listening to " 187 ride bye " by "Tweedy bird loc" all though I love that album, I was always hoping that Ren, especialy Ren, would have some form of come-back to tweedys Dis of NWA on most of the tracks on 187 ride bye album. I am happy to say that out of all NWA members it would appear that ren is the only rapper who has made a dis in retaliation to tweedys album. The song " One false move " Set for tweedy. using clever lyrics like: " get back in your cage " refering to tweedys song, " outta the cage " Althoug no names are said in the song I am sure that the song is set for Tweedy. Although I would like comments about this topic if anyone has any other evidence to proof otherwise. Please leave comments.....     Customer Reviews for Shock Of The Hour Cd      MC REN' BEST ALBUM EVER..AND ONE OF THE BEST WESTCOAST EVER..      Rating:      this album is one of my favourites ever...one of the few works on the westcoast to be called HARDCORE...the beats are some of the ruffest ever, and the lyrics are of a mix of gangsta stories from the ghetto and of the Nation Of Islam theories about the future and conditons of black men in the USA..so, if you have fat hardcore beats and raw lyrics the result is this masterpiece..SHOCK OF THE HOUR is a must-have album for any fan of hip-hop..too much forgotten, I wonder why... and i'm out.
