Reviews Customer Reviews for Think Visual A largely failed and confused effort Rating: I remember hearing "Working in a Factory" get decent rotation on the local radio stations in Albany, NY, back in 1986. Though not a great song, it's still okay compared to some of the real truly marginal stuff on this album. ("Rock N'Roll Cities" being a particularly annoying song.)
I vaguely remember seeing a video for "Lost and Found" but while the video may be long forgotten, the song itself is one of the real gems on this album. The other great Ray Davies' song here is "How Are You" which seems perhaps even more poignant to me now than when I first heard it all those years ago.
While "Think Visual" may not be particularly impressive lyrically, it is nevertheless vibrant and exciting musically. (The live version on the band's live album "The Road" Road (released in 1989 by MCA) is even more vibrant.)
If you are looking for sheer whimsy, "The Video Shop" seems to satisfy the quirkiness factor. "Video Shop" tells the story of a person who's trying to make a living with his newly opened video shop. A wonderfully inspiring little ditty.
Unfortunately, despite some bright spots, the album as a whole fails to impress. It feels like an album conceived under the pressure of a record company's demand for "commercial product." Nevertheless, Think Visual was the first Kinks album I bought and it led me to investigate the rest of The Kink's catalog.
Customer Reviews for Think Visual Cd Video Shop makes this worth the purchase Rating: This probably isn't the best Kinks CD out there (try Give the People What They Want if that's what you're looking for), but there are some decent songs on here like Rock and Roll Cities and Think Visual. But, if not for any other reason, buy this CD for Video Shop. It's unlike any other song you've ever heard. It's goofy but their musical talent really shines through. It's just a happy song that makes you feel really good.
