Reviews Customer Reviews for Hits Blast from the past and more Rating: The 1960s had their share of sad and wistful hits, and Joni Mitchell was behind more than a few. "Both Sides Now" and "The Circle Game" were coffehouse favorites well into the 70s, when folk rock was fading and mindless disco was taking over the AM and FM airwaves. But even in the post-modern world of the early 21st century, Joni's sweet, sad sounds still satisfy. "Hits," a compendium of Joni's most popular music, gives us the exquisitly-produced and syncopated big hits like "Help Me" and "Free Man in Paris" but a few lesser-known work as well. "Hits" covers the peak of Joni's career and stays firmly on the pavement, but even the casual listener will appreciate the strength of her melodies, the complexity of her arrangements and the bittersweet soulfulness of her lyrics.
I listen to "Hits" over and over and love it more every time.
Customer Reviews for Hits Cd My experience Rating: The cd is fine, my daughter enjoyed it. However amazon could not meet the delivery they had commited to doing, so it got here much later. This caused me to cancel another order I had made at the same time. If I ever order any more items from amazon it would not be because they were on my short list.
Editorial Reviews for Hits Audio Cd Amazon.com She's only had four bona fide Top-40 American hits, and one was a Miles of Aisles live version of "Big Yellow Taxi" that's not included here. But after almost 30 years, she's finally delivered a 15-song compilation of her signature songs that will be a CD point-of-departure for casual fans and newcomers well into the new millennium. The companion Misses volume is an intriguing curio that might rather more generously have been marketed as a bonus disc. --Jeff Bateman
