Reviews Customer Reviews for Greatest Hits Like John's Mature Voice? Rating: This is a good set of Denver recordings from late in his career, in his "mature" voice, including re-recordings of some of the older hits. UNless you are familiar with and enjoy these late recordings, I wouldn't get this set. They are NOT the recordings most folks think of, with the clear vocals and guitar- these are more "countrified" and steel-guitared and keyboarded. BUt if you like this late period or just need a fix, it does include lots of songs, including lots of re-recorded hits.
Customer Reviews for Greatest Hits Cd John Denver Greatest Hits - 3 CD Set from EU Rating: For anyone wondering about this 2005 CD set, please note that it contains the exact same music as the 1997 5-CD box set called "The John Denver Collection". Both sets are the product of "Delta Music, Inc.", but the 3 CD version is actually the better of the two. Disc One is called "Take Me Home, Country Roads", Disc Two is called "Annie's Song", and Disc Three is called "Sunshine On My Shoulders".
These 3 discs compile recordings from the later stages of JD's career, including re-recordings of several of his big hits. The songs were originally released on various albums from JD's Windstar label.
PROS: 1. This set includes song author credits {not included in the original 5 disc set} 2. The songs easily fit on 3 CDs rather than 5.
CONS: This set does not include the various photos and "short" essay.
REASON TO BUY: If you are reading this, then you are already a John Denver fan. The former 5 CD set is now deleted. This is a very inexpensive way to have the best of JD's later years...... which, contrary to many reports, offers some really great material. Buy and Enjoy.
