Reviews Customer Reviews for Joan Armatrading      Armatrading's music - my Willow - sultry and exultant anthems for Steppin' Out.      Rating:      I was performing and writing music that burned through me and out onto the stage. My lyrics and melody were crafted in rampant blues about women and other lovers, unrepentant longing ,ghosts and the fleeting joys of home wrecking. No one else but Armatrading had the self-assurance and molten vocals to wrestle my demons down . - Through her music she swore there was a chance I wasn't crazy, that sensuality and the politics of love could be tempered through the medium of song, voice and guitars. I surrendered to her songs believing only they could fashion some goodness in me, and they damn well did. My early dozen or so copies were scratched, stolen, given away at parties or lost in break-up bargains. I wanted THIS album, not retrospectives or best-ofs. I wanted the one with the songs that stole my heart and sistered my soul as she originally ordered them. Now I'm going to sit here and revel in these, so go read someone else's review or even better, go listen to your own download. Go on, now, Get It!     Customer Reviews for Joan Armatrading Cd      Still as good      Rating:      Just bought this on a whim at Amoeba in Berkeley. Its just as good as it was some 30 years ago when it I first heard it. In other words it's a wonderful album. The subtle irony of the lyrics and the simplicity of the original production makes this one of the rare albums that really is a survivor.
