     One of my favorites
     Rating:
This album as well as this artist seems to get some unfair negativity but I'm not buying into that for a minute. As time goes on Garth Brooks and his songs and singing style continue to capture the hearts of many including myself. People accuse him of dragging it out into the pop arena or some such but if you really look at the songs and the man who sings them they embrace old country styles extremely well. Another masterpiece from Garth Brooks and I continue to never tire from the songs that are found here.

     Garth Brooks- Country Idol
     Rating:
Yes, I'm just a kid, But I know about as much when it comes to Garth as anyone. Garth is the best, Not a very detailed fragment. But he can reach out to anyone, Me, You, Grandparents, Mom's and Dads, Small Children, Toddlers, Teens, Pre-Teens. Anyone, He's so entergetic. You'll see! If you think you've heard Country Music, You think you've seen and hearf it all? Not intill you listen to Garth Brooks.

In Pieces finds Garth at the height of his popularity--the album scored 5 hit singles--but in the basement of his admittedly considerable talent. This rise and fall coincided with Brooks's boldest movement yet away from traditional country. "Standing Outside the Fire," another Garth anthem to emotional risk, ends with bongo and rock guitar while "Ain't Going Down till the Sun Comes Up" is rock down to its "Subterranean Homesick Blues" melody. All of which would be fine if the songs were catchier, or if the lyrics--one song disses welfare recipients, another valorizes a father who beats up his boys--weren't such an annoying muddle. --David Cantwell
