Reviews Customer Reviews for Anthology Good coverage, bad sound Rating: I agree with the other reviewers here -- this 2-disk set has good coverage (I seem to remember buying it because it was the only anthology I could find at the time which included Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart) -- but the sound is pretty awful. I think during the remastering process someone decided to "clean up" the sound (with EQing, and maybe compression / limiting) which basically strips out the dirty-ness in the rhythm tracks that *made* these records (or maybe I'm just remembering the sound of vinyl)? The bass is almost inaudible sometimes. It sounds like it was made for people who are not really interested in music. If you want to listen to the Motown musicians, this is a disappointment. Is there a better (i.e. truer) CD version available?
Customer Reviews for Anthology Cd You Can Read, Can't You?! Rating: Yes, I believe they got it right this time, too. My first experience with the Supremes was spring of '62(?) with "Let Me Go the Right Way". (I'm glad it's on this package). I thought, "Yeah, let's hear more of THEM" but I didn't hear anymore for some reason until "Where Did Our Love Go?", the one that really launched the group considerably later. (Mary Wells was the biggest Motowner until then). Although there is some filler here, I cannot remember seeing so many HITS on one compilation unless it was from the MUCH LONGER career of Ray Charles. This seems like the one to have, don't you think? No, really.
