Reviews Customer Reviews for Black And Blue BSB Black and Blue Rating: I have 3 of this CD! It is that good. I love it. Of all my BSb cds, if I had to pick just one, this would be it. I went to 2 concerts from this tour and love every song on this CD. Trust me. Every BSB fan, this one is a must own!
Customer Reviews for Black And Blue Cd Not the best Backstreet Boy album, but its still has its strengths. Rating: In late 2000, the Backstreet Boys wanted to come out with an album that would beat NSYNC's 2.4 Million sale a week. From June 2000 to September 2000, the Boy's made their 3rd studio album entitled Black & Blue. Personally, I think this is their worst album ever made because it was made too fast and about half the album was too generic, meaning the songs sound similar to the rest of the singers of that time period, such as Britney Spears and NSYNC. I think thats what the Backstreet Boys wanted to do with Black & Blue. Below is a list of all the songs on this album, with a rating of 1 to 10.
1) THE CALL- This is probably one of the best songs on the album. It has a lot of creativity and its an excellent pop dance song- 10/10
2) SHAPE OF MY HEART- One of the best songs on the album, Shape of my Heart showcases what the boys are known for: power ballads- 10/10
3) GET ANOTHER BOYFRIEND- A solid song, but not as good as the previous two. Still, its creative and exciting- 9/10
4) SHINING STAR- What were the boys thinking? This sounds just like an NSYNC song; this is one song that should not be sung by them- 4/10
5) I PROMISE YOU- A lovely sounding song, but its not that creative in terms of moving ahead from Millennium- 7/10
6) THE ANSWER TO OUR LIFE- Sounds like this song is straight from Swedish producing. Not a bad song but not their best- 7/10
7) EVERYONE- Similar to Everybody, this song is a thank you to all their fans. Solid pop song- 8/10
8) MORE THAN THAT- This song is a solid pop ballad that the boys sing beautifully; one of my favorite songs on the album- 10/10
9) TIME- The boys wrote this song together and its pretty good, just a bit boring- 7/10
10) NOT FOR ME- Good solid pop dance song, but not quite as good as Get Another Boyfriend- 8/10
11) YES I WILL- An OK song with little creativity and its a bit boring- 6/10
12) ITS TRUE- Similar to YES I WILL, but a little better because of its tune- 8/10
13) HOW DID I FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU- Beautiful song with a beautiful piano throughout. One of the best filler songs on the album- 9/10
CONCLUSION- Black & Blue is not as good as Millennium because it was made too fast and lacks the creativity of Millennium. Still, there are signature ballads on this album that are the Backstreet Boys strong points; its a good thing two of them were used as singles and the one dance song they choose was a good choice (THE CALL). Overall, I give this album a 3.8 out of 5.
Editorial Reviews for Black And Blue Audio Cd Amazon.com The Backstreet Boys' previous outing, Millennium, was a tough act to follow, combining as it did the storming pop of "Larger Than Life" and the sublime balladry of "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely." Black & Blue is a worthy successor, if a slightly more mature sound for the boys. There's plenty of uptempo pop, such as the catchy advice dished out on "Get Another Boyfriend" and the slinky beat-riddled R&B of "Shining Star," nicely balanced with some smooth ballads--you can almost hear the lighters sparking up as the Spanish guitar gently plucks away on "I Promise You (with Everything I Am)." However, it's when they take up immediately where Millennium left off that they are at their strongest: "The Answer to Our Life" and "Not for Me" form a sturdy bridge from their previous output onward to the future. If this is the state of things to come, the future is decidedly rosy for Brian, Kevin, Howie, A.J., and Nick. --Helen Marquis
