There are 2 things I especially love about this CD. One is the sampling from the original SNES "Super Mario World" soundtrack in "Modular Mix." I wonder if anyone else ever caught that. I kept thinking that something sounded familiar in that song, but I couldn't place it. Then one day I was skimming the liner notes and saw the Mario doll in their studio! "Of course!" I said aloud as I smacked my forehead. It all fell in place then. That's pretty awesome.
The other is "Les Professionnels." Having already owned Moon Safari when I purchased this CD, it was a pleasant shock hearing the beginnings of the tantalizing "All I Need" in this collection.
The first 5 tracks alone would have made this a 5-star album. That has already been said. They are all beautiful and a joy to listen to, over and over.
"Californie" starts off rather painfully, yes, but it mellows into something more expected of Air, if you can tolerate the first few moments. I guess half the song is worthy. The last track, forget it. I've not once listened to it all the way through.
If you're a fan, this CD is worth the money. For the most part, it embodies everything you love about Air.

Call me a freak, but i love this album and it reminds me of the soundtrack for any generic 70s porn flick. That, by the way, makes it good mood music.
